1. Divide the class into groups of four that we will call “home groups”. Each group receives four different assignment cards and four texts to read, such as texts from The Globe. All students read through their respective assignments and texts.
2. Now “expert groups" are formed with the students who have received the same assignments and texts. Each group discusses what they have read and how best to pass on what they have learned. They help one another to summarise the most important points in a new text, so that the friends in the “home group” can share the newly-acquired knowledge.
3. The students assemble in their “home groups” again and report in turn about their assignment and text. Ready with pens and notepaper!
