Facts: Child Rights Ambassadors

To become a World’s Children’s Prize (WCP) Child Rights Ambassador, take the first step by learning for change.

Explore the Rights of the Child, focusing on girls’ equal rights. Ask yourself: Are the rights in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child respected in your family, village or town, school, and country?

A group of girls who were forced to marry very young discuss their problems and get advice from a Child Rights Ambassador.

Be a Role Model

Become a changemaker in your village or town. You can: Teach and support other children and adults about child rights. Then share this knowledge with your friends, family, neighbours, and even local leaders and the media. Start a Child Rights Club or group in your school or community. And help organize the WCP program in schools, uniting children in expressing their views and what changes they want to see.

By sharing knowledge about children's rights with everybody around them, Child Rights Ambassadors fight for a better future where they live.

Changemaker Mission

Every child participating in the WCP can be a changemaker. As a Child Rights Ambassador, you can guide them – promoting children's rights in your family, village or town even your country. In this course, you will learn new things and find out ways to make a difference. For example:

  • Accompany friend's home, informing their families and neighbours about children's rights.
  • Talk to local leaders to increase respect for children's rights and girls' equal rights.
  • Educate influential people like local politicians, traditional leaders, police officers, teachers, and school principals about children's rights.
  • Some children even take their ideas and concerns to local and national governments.
