Two boys standing behind a barrier
Who can vote?

You have the right to vote from the year you turn ten years old, until and including the year you turn 18. But there are other conditions for participating in the Global Vote.

In order to vote:
- Your school must be registered as a Global Friend.
- Children who vote should not be over the age of 18.
- The children should have studied the WCP Program. Check out the Teachers’ Guide.
- The children must study facts about child rights, democracy and the Global Goals. You also need to study the life stories of the ">candidates and the children they fight for. You will find all you need in The Globe and in corresponding content on the website.

Can I vote, even if my school is not a Global Friend?
Ideally, you should participate in the Global Vote through your school or group. If you have tried without success to get them involved, we will make an exception for you. In that case, you have to register yourself as an individual Global Friend here. After that you can cast your vote here.

‘It was really hard to decide which candidate to vote for. They were equally amazing. It took a lot of learning and thinking before I finally made my choice’.
Cecilia, 12 years old.

About the age limit
The upper age limit, 18, is becuase the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child says that you’re a child until you turn 18. The lower age limit is there for several reasons. In order to be able to participate in the Global Vote, you must learn all about the work of the nominees. The children they fight for have often been through terrible things, and their stories can be frightening for younger children. Even older children may find it difficult, which is why it’s important to have adults to talk to when you’re working with the WCP program.
